Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant of Montclair, NJ is a favorite for both vegans & meat lovers with its authentic Ethiopian food. All of our foods are prepared with imported Ethiopian spices blended daily.

Our Restaurant
Our produce is always fresh and our sauces are prepared as ordered. The friendly staff and warm decor makes Mesob the perfect place to relax with family and friends. Our Injera, a delicious sourdough Ethiopian flat bread that you wrap your food with, makes Mesob a favorite with kids, where it's a treat to "eat with your hands." (but we also have silverware, if you prefer!)

Experience

Fine Ethiopian Cuisine!
Authentic Ethiopian food using only fresh ingredients and seasoned with spices imported from Ethiopia. All vegetable dishes are vegan. Coffee (bunna) is imported from Ethiopia and roasted fresh as used. Teas (shai) are fresh blends of loose-leaf teas and spices. Mesob grinds spices for the teas daily. The flavors include cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves in a black-tea base.

Menu

MESOB offers only the finest in quality Lamb, Prime Beef, tender Chicken, fresh Vegetables and Seafood, and freshly baked Injera (traditional Ethiopian bread). All dishes are traditionally prepared with the freshest ingredients. We believe you'll taste the difference, and hope you enjoy your dining experience. Mesob also offers gluten-free options with its Injera (please give us at least 4 hours notice) and with some of its desserts.

*For the authentic Ethiopian taste of kitfo, this dish is best-eaten “tiray”(raw).  Otherwise, you can have it prepared “lebleb” style, in which it is very briefly and very lightly sautéed.

BOZENA SHIRO

We can prepare pasta or rice by request and serve it instead of injera with any entrée you like.

There is a $7.00 charge for any shared entrée. There is an 18% gratuity charge for parties of 6 or more.

Food is very precious to us!!!! Enjoy your leftover meal the next day as fitfit (pieces of injera mixed with vegetables and/or meat) or right out of the container with a fork or spoon.
